Design Concept & Inspiration

Commissioned by Signature Aviation, the Signature MDW FBO Terminal at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, represents a pinnacle of modern aviation design crafted by CHB Architects. This state-of-the-art facility redefines luxury travel by blending Chicago's iconic architectural heritage with contemporary sophistication, creating an exclusive gateway for Signature Airlines’ elite clientele.

Drawing from the city's storied skyline and industrial roots, the terminal offers a seamless fusion of elegance and functionality, transforming the passenger experience into a reflection of Chicago's dynamic energy and cultural depth.

Seasonal Integration
The design embraces Chicago’s four seasons through dynamic lighting systems that adjust color temperatures—cool blues for winter, warm ambers for fall—and textured surfaces that play with natural light. Atriums with seasonal plantings and adaptable HVAC systems ensure year-round comfort and atmospheric enhancement.

Art Deco and Industrial-Chic Fusion
The terminal seamlessly merges metallic accents, such as brushed steel and chrome detailing, with Art Deco geometric patterns and industrial exposed beams. These elements create a striking visual presence, with sleek architectural lines that evoke Chicago's skyline and provide an instantly recognizable facade.

Carefully Selected Materials
Premium materials like polished marble floors, leather-upholstered furnishings, and custom glass etchings with Deco motifs add layers of refinement. Textured concrete walls nod to the city's industrial past, while warm wood accents soften the space for a balanced, contemporary feel.
